Leaves of Grass

Walt Whitman's epic poem "Leaves of Grass" was first, self, published in 1855, more than 150 years ago. In 2005 the "Fred Hersch Ensemble" published a CD "Leaves of Grass" on the Palmetto Records label. Fred Herssch used Whitman's words directly in this jazz compact disk. Working with these words and music I offer the following watercolor paintings in commemoration of the work of these two artists.
