The art of still life requires that the artist both choose the objects to paint and to arrange them in a composition. Yet still life is a popular choice. In fact the Impressionist painters often returned to still life to hone their skills. Perhaps it is a more meditative activity to make the choices and then to live with them in your studio for as long as it takes. |
