L. William Countryman  in "Living on the Border of the Holy", pp 175 We, humanity as a whole, have built boundaries between people for reason of aserting our dominance over the "other".   As Countryman continues on page 192, "We have crossed those boundaries... in war; now we must learn to cross them in peace". The boundaries are formed by us to separate us from other people who are somehow 'different'.   Different by race, nation, religion and sexuality.   Communion II is an extension of my first Communion painting and is full of symbology that may not be familiar.   As a help I include the painting and identification of the symbols.   Please explore. |
